New club formed with high aim


November 12

Cricket, growing sports with craze in Nepal got a new club with high intend to develop cricket. Formation of ‘South West Cricket Club’ being revealed at press meets in Kathmandu on November 12. To develop cricket from grass root in South and West Part of Kathmandu, the club mean to introduce cricket in 20-30 private and government schools. At begin practice net in 3-4 school, club aims to increase this with time passes. Likewise club aspire to appoint coaches at school levels and will conduct the regular School Level, College Level and Club level tournament in future, said at press meet.

Normally, In Nepal cricket clubs not playing proper matches and Cricket Board also lack of Club cricket. In this situation commitment by newly established 'South West Cricket Club' came up with big plans. Just we have to wait  and watch of this club's behavior and contribution toward Nepali cricket. Nepali sports lovers will warmly welcome cricket club which intended to generate cricketer for high level.

Nepal dominates USA


August 9

Last match of ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier 2011, Ireland for Nepal ends with happy note as South Asian Nation dominates United State of America.Nepal batted first and posted a competitive 264 for nine in its 50 overs. The top-scorers for Nepal were Naresh Budayair (76: 94b, 5x4, 3x6) and Pradeep Airee (57: 57b, 3x4, 3x6). USA needed to win to confirm its berth at the World Cup.

At the Coleraine Cricket Club, Nepal posted its most impressive performance yet with the bat. Nepal made 277 for seven in its stipulated 50 overs. Sagar Pun (67: 81b, 8x4, 1x6), Rajesh Pulami Magar (91: 100b, 8x4, 1x6) and Pradeep Airee (59: 57b, 6x4) made worthwhile contributions with the bat for Nepal.

Nepal registered win on the 
seventh day of the ICC U19 
Cricket World Cup Qualifier in 
Derry. On a day when rains 
affected the game, plenty of 
action was witnessed as the 
jostling for the supremacy at 
the ICC U19 Cricket World 
Cup qualifier.
Hosts Ireland featured in 
another last over finish, this 
time against Nepal at the 
Bready Cricket Club. Nepal 
batted first and was restricted 
to 187 for seven in 46 overs as 
rains forced reduction  in the 
number of overs. Ireland 
skipper George Dockrell picked 
up 3-15 even as Sagar Pun 
made 50 off 100 balls with three 
boundaries and a six.
 
In the chase, the home team lost 
early wickets, but Dockrell (55: 
86b, 3x4) and Adam Coughlan 
(48:86b, 1x4) added 107 runs 
for the fifth wicket.
 
Once the partnership was 
broken, the chase fell apart. 
Nepal’s left-arm spinner Rahul 
Vishvakarma picked up four 
wickets in the final over to bowl 
out Ireland for 175 and earned 
his side a 10-run win.
 
Dockrell’s all-round effort 
earned him the Man of the 
Match award, but the skipper 
was a disappointed man: “We 
bowled well to restrict them, but 
they got a few runs towards the 
end which helped them a lot. 
The match was in the balance 
and we seemed to be getting 
close. But we lost wickets 
towards the end. We still have 
two more games to end the

Nepal keeps Namibia at bay in a close game


August 5
At the Drummond Cricket Club, Nepal and Namibia played out a closely fought match. Nepal posted 217 thanks to Naresh Budayair’s 51 (82b, 1x4, 1x6). Christopher Coombe picked up his career best haul of 6-41 to run through the Nepal middle and lower-order. Namibia’s chase appeared to be faltering, but Merwe Erasmus (63: 77b, 1x4, 3x6) revived the innings first with Coombe (30) and then with Shalako Groenewald (44). In the end, Nepal’s varied attack managed to make the breakthroughs at the right moments to claim a nine-run win.
Coombe won the Man of the Match award for his all-round spell. But he said that a win would have satisfied him more: “This (6-41) was my best spell at any level. The pitch assisted me a bit. While batting, I thought, we could win the game. I had to stay there long enough. Unfortunately, that was not the case today. But hopefully we can come back stronger.” Report: ICC

Second lost for Nepal

Canada Under-19s edged past Nepal Under-19s in an attritional thriller at the Bready Cricket Club. Bowlers ruled the roost in a game where only 213 runs were scored in 91.1 overs. Kesavan Juvarajan and Trevor Manoosingh scalped three wickets apiece as Nepal cobbled together a score of 106, with extras - 24 - the highest contribution to the total. The Nepal bowlers were almost as generous, conceding 19 extras in the chase, but Canada owed their victory to Kyle Edghill's dour unbeaten 52 off 133 balls. Vanuatu surrender against Nepal

Nepal Under-19s went to the top of the table with a crushing 159-run win over Vanuatu at YMCA Club. Half-centuries from opener Sagar Pun and No. 3 Naresh Budayair, and a generous 34 wides from Vanuatu, powered Nepal to 250. Seamer Shem Sala was the most successful Vanuatu bowler, taking three wickets for 49. Vanuatu's chase never got going as medium-pacer Krishna Karki sliced through the top order, leaving them at 20 for 4. Nepal register second win at WC qualifier

Nepal defeated Kenya at the match of ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier 2011 at Dublin. Nepal’s bowlers continued to impress and  varied attack which limits Kenya for a meagre 107 in 48.5 overs at the Railway Union Cricket Club. Avinash Karn (3-27), Krishna Karki (3-27), Bhuvan Karki (2-9) and Rahul Vishvakarma (2-26) shared the wickets for Nepal.  

Nepal lost to Scotland

In second match of Nepal at ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier 2011, Nepal lost the match against Scotland by 57 runs. Scotland, an ODI nation proved to be too strong for Nepal at the Merrion Cricket Club. Scotland batted first after a rain delay and was bowled out for 214 in 49 overs. Freddie Coleman’s 81 off 102 balls with six boundaries negated Nepal bowler Bhuwan Karki’s 5 for 41. Nepal captain Prithu Baskota (67: 117b, 5x4, 2x6) played a lone hand in the chase as wickets fell at regular intervals. 

Man of the Match Coleman was happy to have played a part in the win: ''Conditions were pretty tough. We needed to handle a lot of spinners, because it skidded off a lot. We looked to hit to down the ground and hit as straight as we could. I looked to bat through the innings and play low risk cricket. I thought 200 would be par a score. The chase was tough because it taking a lot more spin towards the end. This makes up for yesterday's loss to Canada.'' Report:- ICC
